Our Process

A guided path back to
feeling like yourself.

Most patients complete five appointments over nine to twelve months. By appointment four or five, they typically describe feeling like themselves again — often for the first time in years.

01

Initial Consultation · 90 minutes

Listening, history, and a thorough exam

We begin with the conversation most patients have never had — an in-depth review of your medical, surgical, and family history, current medications, and a detailed symptoms questionnaire. A complete physical exam follows, including pap smears or prostate exams when indicated.

02

Comprehensive Lab Panel

The most thorough workup in South Dakota

On the day of your consultation, we typically draw a comprehensive lab panel tailored to your needs. It looks at far more than the standards — because the standards miss too much.

Full endocrine system: pituitary, thyroid, ovaries or gonads, pancreas, adrenals

Vitamins, minerals, micronutrients, and protein levels

Iron and ferritin status

Inflammatory markers and autoimmune indicators

Organ function across the cardiovascular and metabolic systems

03

Follow-Up & Personalized Plan · 90 minutes

Your results, explained — and a plan built around them

One to two weeks later, we sit down together to walk through every lab value, explain the metabolic processes behind your symptoms, and connect the dots between how you feel and what your body is telling us. Then we build your individualized plan — hormones, nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle — tailored to your physiology and your goals.

04

Coordinated Care

A team built around you

When your care needs to reach beyond our walls, we coordinate it. Ultrasounds, DEXA scans, colonoscopies, sleep studies, cardiovascular screening, food allergy and environmental studies — and direct collaboration with breast surgeons, oncologists, urology, rheumatology, and other specialists when needed.

05

Appointments 3–5 · 60 minutes each

Refinement and optimization

The fine-tuning phase. We adjust medications, add testing when warranted, deepen nutrition and exercise guidance, and watch your numbers — and your energy, sleep, mood, and body composition — come back into balance.

06

Annual Wellness · Going forward

Long-term care, lightly held

Once you're stable, we step back. Most patients are seen one to two times per year for a full lab panel, a head-to-toe physical, and any adjustments needed to keep you feeling your best.

Built Around You

Care that fits your life.

Concierge-level medicine shouldn't mean concierge-level inconvenience. We've built our practice around the realities of being a working professional, a caregiver, a parent — and someone who has waited long enough to feel better. From flexible payment structures to early-morning and evening appointments, we'll meet you where you are.

Three ways to engage

Choose the path that fits your life — a full care package, a monthly membership broken into manageable payments, or pay-as-you-go appointments. We'll help you decide together at your consultation.

Early mornings & evenings

Appointments as early as 6:00 a.m. and as late as 7:00 p.m. — so you don't have to take PTO, find a sitter, or sacrifice your career to take care of yourself.

In-person or virtual

Visit our Sioux Falls clinic in person, or meet with Dr. Redmond through secure telemedicine. We work with patients in South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Montana, Minnesota, Wyoming, and Florida.

HSA & FSA accepted

We accept HSA and FSA payments, and provide claim forms you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement of qualifying services.

We help where we can

Because comprehensive care isn't inexpensive, Dr. Redmond provides complimentary medication to patients whenever possible — one of many small ways we try to make optimal care more reachable.

Comon Questions

Everything
You Want
to Know

Everything You Want to Know

Have a question not answered here? Dr. Redmond can be reached directly at 605-261-6872 or jennifer@hormones-gone-wild.com

Are hormone pellets safe for women?

Hormone pellets carry significant risks because the hormone dose cannot be adjusted after insertion. This is why Menopause Certified Providers — including Dr. Redmond — do not recommend pellets and prefer adjustable alternatives.

  • Dose cannot be changed once inserted — the pellet lasts 3 months and cannot be removed

  • Risk of permanent side effects including voice changes, chronic clitoral and vaginal pain, and clitoral enlargement

  • Hormone levels can spike unpredictably, causing a surge-and-crash effect

Safer alternatives such as patches, creams, and pills allow for individualized dosing and ongoing monitoring.

Is prescription hormone replacement therapy covered under my insurance?

In most cases, yes — if you use FDA-approved bioidentical hormones, insurance typically covers the cost, with average monthly costs ranging from $35-$80.

  • Testosterone therapy for women is not FDA-approved and not covered by insurance — however, coupons are available making it approximately $14-$40 per month out of pocket

  • Custom-compounded HRT is not covered by insurance and typically costs around $150/month

Pellet therapy is not offered at our practice due to unpredictable hormone fluctuations. Our goal is long-term stability so you feel energized and balanced every day.

What is the difference between bio-identical and synthetic hormones?

Hormone therapy can use either synthetic or bio-identical hormones, and they differ in how closely they match your body's natural hormones.

  • Synthetic hormones: Lab-made, similar but not identical to your own; may cause more side effects

  • Bio-identical hormones: Lab-made but chemically identical to what your body produces; generally safer, better tolerated, and customizable

Bio-identical hormones are typically the preferred option because they more closely mimic your body's natural hormone structure.

What is hormone replacement therapy?

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a medical treatment that replaces hormones your body no longer produces at sufficient levels — most commonly estrogen and progesterone. HRT can help manage symptoms of perimenopause and menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, decreased libido, weight changes, and vaginal dryness.

HRT is available in multiple delivery forms including pills and troches, patches, topical gels and creams, and injectable therapies — allowing for personalized treatment based on your individual symptoms, health history, and goals.

Is hormone replacement therapy safe?

Hormone replacement therapy can be exceedingly safe for many women. Individual factors such as personal and family medical history play a critical role in determining safety. The route and type of HRT is determined by your specific needs and risk factors. Care directed by a provider with Menopause Society Certification ensures evidence-based therapies and patient safety. Regular follow-ups help ensure continued effectiveness and allow for any necessary adjustments.

What are the risks of hormone replacement therapy?

While HRT can be highly effective, it may carry some risks depending on the type, route, dose, duration, and individual health factors.

  • Blood clots or stroke: Risk varies based on whether hormones are synthetic vs. bio-identical and oral vs. topical delivery

  • Heart disease: Timing of therapy initiation affects risk — early HRT may actually offer cardiovascular protection

  • Cancer risk: Combined estrogen-progestin therapy can increase breast cancer risk by approximately 0.0006%; estrogen alone is exceedingly safe

Discussing your complete medical history with a certified menopause provider is the best way to balance benefits and risks.

Does hormone replacement therapy increase cancer risk?

Certain types of HRT — particularly combined synthetic estrogen and progestin therapy — may slightly increase the risk of breast cancer by approximately 0.0006% when used long-term. Bio-identical combined estrogen and progesterone therapy carries a lower cancer risk.

Importantly, HRT decreases the risk of several other cancers including colorectal cancer, liver cancer, and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Regular screening helps maintain safety while on therapy.

Can I take hormone replacement therapy if I have a history of breast cancer?

HRT is always an option for every woman, regardless of history — but treatment is individualized for women with a history of breast cancer. Understanding your individual risk of recurrence is key, and collaboration between a Menopause Certified Specialist and your Oncologist ensures safety.

Important: Vaginal estrogen is safe for women with a history of breast cancer. It does not raise blood estrogen levels and will not increase your risk of recurrence. Every woman is entitled to living a full, symptom-free life.
